Basketball Recap: Swallows Charter Academy Takes a Loss

If Swallows Charter Academy was feeling good fresh off their 61-16 takedown of Cripple Creek-Victor last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans were beaten by the Hoehne Farmers 61-18 on Friday. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jade Anaya, who posted ten points along with six boards and three steals. That was a full 55.6% of Swallows Charter Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row Anaya has scored more than a third of the team's points. Keira Graham was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Hoehne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellegra Gutierrez, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and eight steals. Thanks to that strong game, Gutierrez now owns an excellent 45.6% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylee Foster, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points and seven steals.

Swallows Charter Academy dropped their record down to 8-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Hoehne, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Swallows Charter Academy has already played their next game, a 49-31 defeat against Fowler on the 18th. As for Hoehne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-41 win against Del Norte on the 18th.
