Softball Preview: Nestucca Bobcats vs. Knappa Loggers        
        
		
            
 Nestucca is 2-8 against Knappa since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Monday. The Nestucca Bobcats will head out on the road to  take on  the Knappa Loggers at 4:30  p.m.
 Nestucca fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against St. Paul  on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buckaroos by a score of  7-6. Nestucca has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Piper Armstrong put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  7.2 innings while giving up  four earned  (and three unearned) runs off   11  hits (and not a single walk). Armstrong has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Armstrong was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Rylee Armstrong was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-3 with two  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.  McKenna McDonald was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Knappa, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Clatskanie out  8-7.
 Like Nestucca, Knappa also got a great game from a two-way player:  Taylor Pass. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and six unearned) runs off   ten  hits. Pass was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Kate Maher was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Kiya Roe, who  went 1-for-4 with a  triple and a  run.
 Nestucca's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Knappa, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record  this season.
