Softball Recap: Mineral County Comes Up Short

Mineral County and Wells squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mineral County had to settle for second. They lost 13-3 to the Leopards. The Serpents have struggled against the Leopards recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Mineral County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlynn Sanchez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sydney Isom also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Mineral County's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Wells, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6.

Coming up, Mineral County is taking a road trip to face off against Virginia City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Muckers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.57 runs per game on average), something the Serpents will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wells, they will welcome Pyramid Lake at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
