Volleyball Recap: Sam Houston Comes Up Short

Sam Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 29th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jefferson Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hurricanes of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Sam Houston started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 23-25, 25-13, 25-15, 15-11.

Sam Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Jefferson, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-24.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sam Houston is set to challenge their familiar foe Seguin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will take on rival Fox Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
