Recap: Seven Rivers Christian Warriors vs. First Academy Eagles
The Seven Rivers Christian Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They walked away with a 73-60 win over First Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Hendrix Loughridge was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 21 rebounds. The match was Loughridge's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Richard Kilias was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhett Walsh, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Walsh also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Norflee, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Seven Rivers Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for First Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Seven Rivers Christian will head out on the road to face off against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. First Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
