Preview: Middle Creek Mustangs vs. Green Level Gators
Middle Creek is 1-6 against Green Level since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Middle Creek Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Green Level Gators at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Middle Creek comes in on six and Green Level on three.
On Friday, Middle Creek beat Apex 51-43. Given Middle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Apex is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Middle Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Joi Pergerson, who scored 16 points along with two steals, and Ava Skladanowski, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Furst, who scored seven points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Green Level earned a 46-37 victory over Green Hope on Friday.
Middle Creek's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Green Level, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Middle Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Green Level in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middle Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
