Brooks is 8-2 against Wilson since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Brooks Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Wilson Warriors at 5:00 p.m.
Brooks fell victim to Decatur Heritage Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wilson and Lexington meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Wilson walked away with a 7-3 victory over Lexington. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Jack Darby and Cayden McCormack were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Darby struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, McCormack tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). At bat, Darby scored a run while going 2-for-5, while McCormack scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Lane Delano was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Brodie Pruitt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Wilson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington struck out ten times.
The victory got Wilson back to even at 8-8. As for Brooks, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Brooks skirted past Wilson 2-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will Brooks repeat their success, or does Wilson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
