Recap: Midland Legacy Rebels vs. Americas Trail Blazers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Midland Legacy Rebels had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They took down the Trail Blazers 59-44. The victory was all the more spectacular given Midland Legacy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Americas is ranked 134th).
Diego Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with two steals. Jordan Williams was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Americas' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was VINNIE VICENCIO, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was MARIO HOLGUIN, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Midland Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 15-17. As for Americas, their loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 29-5.
Midland Legacy's road trip will continue as they head out to face V.R. Eaton at 7:00 p.m. on February 23rd. Hopefully Midland Legacy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. Americas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
