Baseball Recap: Hilliard Davidson's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

Hilliard Davidson won the last time they faced Upper Arlington and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats came out on top against the Golden Bears by a score of 6-3.

Josh DiBlasio made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Hilliard Davidson's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). DiBlasio was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Andrew Sherman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Hilliard Davidson is undefeated when Sherman allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Johnny DiBlasio, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Will Ragland was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hilliard Davidson's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11. As for Upper Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilliard Davidson will welcome Columbus Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Vikings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Upper Arlington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olentangy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
