Softball Game Preview: Bolsa Grande Matadors vs. Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros

Bolsa Grande is 2-8 against Rancho Alamitos since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Matadors are taking a road trip to take on the Vaqueros at 3:00 p.m. The last three games Bolsa Grande has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Monday, Bolsa Grande didn't have quite enough to beat Godinez Fundamental and fell 11-10.

Meanwhile, Rancho Alamitos entered their tilt with Magnolia on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sentinels a 14-0 shutout. The Vaqueros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Rancho Alamitos got a massive performance out of Dahlia Arguelles, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Miley Reyes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Arguelles wasn't the only one making solid contact: Rancho Alamitos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Vaqueros are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Rancho Alamitos' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Bolsa Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Bolsa Grande might still be hurting after the 21-8 defeat they got from Rancho Alamitos in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Matadors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
