Basketball Recap: Wellington Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wellington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They managed a 52-47 victory over the Atlantic Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Wolverines, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wellington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rebecca Vital, who posted 14 points and four steals. Gabby D'Arcangelo was another key player, putting up eight points.

When it comes to explaining why Atlantic lost, don't look at Keaira Todd. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Todd a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Pierre, who had ten points along with seven boards and four steals.

Wellington's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. As for Atlantic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Wellington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-37 win against Palm Beach Central on the 11th. As for Atlantic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-39 victory against West Boca Raton on the 10th.
