Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Spokane Wildcats vs. Gonzaga Prep Bullpups

For the second straight game, Mt. Spokane will face off against Gonzaga Prep. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Bullpups at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Spokane's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Gonzaga Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mt. Spokane is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Gonzaga Prep just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to the Bullpups. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Gonzaga Prep's part, Connor Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, Grant Yost was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Gonzaga Prep is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mt. Spokane, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.
