Basketball Recap: Gulf Coast Falls Despite Big Games from Nevia Edouard and Jena Walsh

The Gulf Coast Sharks came up short against the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks on Friday and fell 52-42. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gulf Coast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jena Walsh, who posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Nevia Edouard, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall DeLuke, who put up five points and three steals.

Veronica Halisky continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Donahue Catholic, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards. Halisky has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Angie Halisky was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Gulf Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Donahue Catholic, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Gulf Coast has already played their next game, a 61-45 win against Southwest Florida Christian on the 3rd. As for Donahue Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-53 victory against Estero on the 3rd.
