Softball Recap: George County Beats Hattiesburg for Their Fifth Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but George County had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They didn't even let the Hattiesburg Tigers on the board, marking their second-straight 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Addison Davis made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kyleigh Howell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jordyn Bradley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

George County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was George County's fifth in a row) raised their record to 25-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hattiesburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

George County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hattiesburg: the pair will be back at it again later today.
