Softball Game Preview: Washington Pam Pack vs. Richlands Wildcats

The Washington Pam Pack will challenge the Richlands Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Washington is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Croatan 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Pam Pack in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Emma Orr made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Orr was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Orr wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alani Hyatt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Richlands made easy work of Pamlico County on Tuesday and carried off a 16-10 win.

Addi Andrews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, LeNayah Jackson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in triples. Piper Turner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Richlands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pamlico County only posted a batting average of .259.
