Football Recap: Jay'veon Scott Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Murphysboro + How To Watch

After only 12 points in their last contest, Lift for Life Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Murphysboro on Friday. The Hawks walked away with a 46-34 win over the Red Devils. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 38th in Missouri, while the Red Devils are ranked 288th in Illinois).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lift for Life Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay'Veon Scott, who rushed for 102 yards and two scores on only seven carries. The Hawks are undefeated when Scott posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Lift for Life Academy also got help from Tony Woolfolk Jr., who showed off his sure hands for 93 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lift for Life Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Lift for Life Academy's record now sits at 4-2. As for Murphysboro, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lift for Life Academy will challenge Father Tolton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Father Tolton's defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so Lift for Life Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Murphysboro, they will face off against Harrisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.17 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
