Volleyball Recap: John Curtis Christian Starts Season with Victory Against South Lafourche

John Curtis Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the South Lafourche Tarpons 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Tarpons: they've now won six in a row.

John Curtis Christian had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 17-25, 25-21, 25-14, 15-9.

Leading John Curtis Christian to victory were Mikaela Duncan and Caroline Naccari. Duncan had 15 digs and two assists, while Naccari had 12 digs and one assist. Those 15 digs gave Duncan a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, South Lafourche saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addison Rodrigue had 12 assists and four digs.

Coming up, John Curtis Christian will take on Crescent City Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Lafourche, they will square off against Haynes Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
