Softball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

If Lakeside was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Rancho Christian on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Moreno Valley Vikings on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-5 on April 10th.

Adryanna Alvarez and Savana Swick stepped up to the plate in a big way. Alvarez went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Swick went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Alvarez has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Natalie Franco was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Moreno Valley, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lakeside will take on rival Rancho Verde at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Moreno Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Citrus Hill at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
