Baseball Recap: Spanish Fork Comes Up Short

Spanish Fork was the 7-6 winner over Union when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Spanish Fork fell just short of Union by a score of 2-1 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by just one run.

Spanish Fork got a good showing from Matai Johnson, who didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Spanish Fork saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Pintar, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Spanish Fork and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Union, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Coming up, Spanish Fork will challenge Juab at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Union, they have already played their next game, a 5-2 loss against Desert Hills on the 21st.
