Softball Recap: Patton Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Patton hadn't done well against East Burke recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Patton Panthers blew past the East Burke Cavaliers 16-6. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Cavaliers on their field since April 22, 2022.

Patton let Kara Redwine and Jolann Buff run wild. Redwine scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4, while Buff went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Redwine a new career-high in RBI (two). Alex Maines was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Patton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Patton's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for East Burke, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patton will host West Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Burke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincolnton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Burke has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
