Baseball Game Preview: Montebello Oilers vs. Schurr Spartans

For the second straight game, Montebello will face off against Schurr. The Oilers will head out to face off against the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Montebello is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Montebello came out on top against Schurr on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Oilers walked away with a 6-1 win over the Spartans.

Isaac Solorzano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Roberto Barraza was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montebello kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Montebello's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Schurr, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
