Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Admirals vs. John Jay Patriots

The Arlington Admirals will challenge the John Jay Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Arlington's last matchup with Ketcham could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Admirals came up short against the Storm, falling 15-2. The loss continues a trend for the Admirals in their meetings with the Storm: they've now lost three in a row.

Arlington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Simou, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Simou has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, John Jay put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against New Rochelle by a score of 4-1. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Patriots have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Anthony Batkay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

John Jay's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like John Jay struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
