Baseball Recap: Fort Kent Triumphs

Fort Kent got themselves on the board against Wisdom on Friday, but Wisdom never followed suit. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 5-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-8 on May 8th.

Carter Desjardins made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Cyr, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Fort Kent is 2-1 when Cyr posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Wil Morneault was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

The win made it two in a row for Fort Kent and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Wisdom, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Kent will venture away from home to square off against Caribou at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wisdom, they will head out to face off against Madawaska at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
