Baseball Recap: Benet Academy Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Benet Academy had won four straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped their record up to 17-8 to make it five. They skirted past the Niles Notre Dame Dons 3-2. The Redwings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dons, too.

As for Niles Notre Dame, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14-1 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row.

For Niles Notre Dame's part, Jimmy Harrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Harrington has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, James Spellman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Benet Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Niles Notre Dame: the pair will be back at it again later today.
