Norwood has gone a perfect 5-0 against Millis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Mohawks at 4:30 p.m. Norwood will be strutting in after a victory while Millis will be coming in after a loss.
On Wednesday, Norwood beat Norton 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Ryan Grenham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angel Olaverria, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Sheehan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Millis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dedham. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Mohawks' highest-scoring game to date.
Nick Hohman and Aidan Sugrue stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hohman went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Sugrue got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Hohman also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Talon Shepardson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Millis' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Norwood, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Millis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Norwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Millis, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Norwood's hitters?
Norwood beat Millis 8-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Mohawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
