Basketball Recap: Newton County Takes a Loss

Newton County lost against Choctaw Central on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Newton County Cougars had to suffer through a 76-32 loss at the hands of the Choctaw Central Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Warriors are ranked third).

Newton County's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Choctaw Central, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing West Lauderdale the next time they take the court. Choctaw Central will host West Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Newton County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
