Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, St. Joseph couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 31-24 to the Duchesne Eagles on Friday. The Jayhawks have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph lost, don't look at Mimi Dewitte. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Dewitte has become a key player for St. Joseph: the team is 15-4 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Martinez, who posted four points along with ten boards and three steals.

Duchesne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chezney Farnsworth, who scored 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Davenport, who earned four points and 12 boards.

St. Joseph's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Duchesne, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

St. Joseph does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Duchesne, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-49 loss against Beaver on the 22nd.
