Baseball Recap: Alleghany Comes Up Short

Alleghany extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They came up short against the Starmount Rams, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

Alleghany saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Perong, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Starmount, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

On Starmount's side, Emmanuel Vasquez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits. Vasquez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Alleghany will challenge Mount Airy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Granite Bears will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Starmount, they will take on East Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
