Baseball Recap: Old Orchard Beach's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

With a playoff win on the line, Old Orchard Beach rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Madison Bulldogs 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Seagulls sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Trot Moody made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Old Orchard Beach is 7-1 when Moody posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wesley Gallant, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Colby Salamacha was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Old Orchard Beach's record now sits at 10-5. As for Madison, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-6 record.

As of now, neither Old Orchard Beach nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
