Softball Recap: IC Catholic Prep Knights vs. De La Salle Meteors
IC Catholic Prep dropped their record down to 11-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the De La Salle Meteors by a score of 5-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Meteors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 last Wednesday.
Madelynn Dinino put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Dinino was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Dinino wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Hoffman, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for De La Salle, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
On De La Salle's side, Samara Agredano and Alondra Soto did most of the damage at the plate: Agredano went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Soto got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most RBI Agredano has posted since back in May of 2024.
IC Catholic Prep and De La Salle should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Knights will challenge Westmont at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (210 vs. 458). Meanwhile, De La Salle (ranked 188th) will meet Northside (ranked 475th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
