The Hebron Hawks will take on the Andrean Fighting 59ers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hebron is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won four in a row.
Addison Toczek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Toczek was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macey Siminski, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, while Andrean put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Whiting. The Fighting 59ers were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Oilers. The Fighting 59ers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
Andrean also got a great performance from Cheyenne Sammons as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Sammons a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Maggie Voliva was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dani Poskin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Andrean hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.
Andrean has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hebron, their record is now 9-12.
Hebron came up short against Andrean when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 5-0. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
