The Dawson-Bryant Hornets will take on the Gallia Academy Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dawson-Bryant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Dawson-Bryant will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Wednesday, then bounced right back against South Point on Wednesday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Pointers with a sharp 10-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Pointers: they've now won nine in a row.

Abbie Deeds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Braelie Hitchcock was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izzy Kitts, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Dawson-Bryant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Gallia Academy and Rock Hill meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Redmen by a score of 7-6. The Blue Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ava Angel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Reagan Skidmore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Dawson-Bryant now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Gallia Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Dawson-Bryant beat Gallia Academy 9-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
