Basketball Recap: Evangelical Christian Comes Up Short

Evangelical Christian lost against Oasis on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Evangelical Christian Sentinels took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oasis Sharks.

When it comes to explaining why Evangelical Christian lost, don't look at Quez Outten. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 en route to 19 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Drew Irwin, who posted 12 points.

Oasis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Louzao, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Louzao has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Johnny Cernuska was another key player, going 8 of 13 en route to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Evangelical Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Oasis, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will host Ida Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oasis, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. Palmetto Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
