San Ysidro waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Montgomery Aztecs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since September 5th.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-101) San Ysidro actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-19, 14-25, 25-21, 19-25, 18-16.

Kristine Fadriquela paced San Ysidro's offense, picking up 13 kills. Fadriquela got some help from Asyiah Moore and her 29 assists. Moore was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

San Ysidro's victory bumped their record up to 20-12. As for Montgomery, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven matches and leaves them with a 19-14 record.

Looking ahead, San Ysidro will square off against Sweetwater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
