Basketball Game Preview: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. New Bern Bears

The Athens Drive Jaguars will challenge the New Bern Bears on Monday.

Last Thursday, Athens Drive came up short against Sanderson and fell 51-38. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Athens Drive's defeat came about despite a quality game from Chay Smith, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 18 points. Smith continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Green, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Bern beat D.H. Conley 65-59 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

New Bern has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Athens Drive, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
