Softball Game Preview: Geneva Panthers vs. Wicksburg Panthers

Geneva will take on Wicksburg in a tournament on Wednesday.

Geneva saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brantley.

Meanwhile, Wicksburg had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 9-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by six runs or more this season.

Wicksburg's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Geneva, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Geneva was able to grind out a solid win over Wicksburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 5-1. Does Geneva have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wicksburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
