Football Recap: Ooltewah Takes a Loss

Ooltewah extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were outmatched by the McMinn County Cherokees and fell 61-6. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Cherokees are ranked 51st).

Despite the loss, Ooltewah still got an impressive performance from Griffin Patterson, who picked up 123 receiving yards and one score. Patterson's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.

Ooltewah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Leading the way was James Citizen and his one interception.

As for McMinn County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jakaryn Dyer produced another solid effort rushing for 136 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. He has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Lawson, who threw for 238 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt.

Ooltewah didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-23 loss against Soddy Daisy on the 3rd. As for McMinn County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 24-21 defeat against Knoxville Central on the 3rd.
