Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Academy Blackhawks vs. Walton Warriors

Oxford Academy is on a six-game streak of home losses also dating back to last season, Walton a seven-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Oxford Academy Blackhawks just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Walton Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both are at an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but likely not for long.

On Tuesday, Oxford Academy lost to Delaware Academy at home by a 43-25 margin. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 166th).

Meanwhile, Walton can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Unadilla Valley by a score of 29-21.

Oxford Academy better focus on containing Grace Walley and Kennedy Williams as the pair were huge in Walton's win. Walley almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 19 rebounds, while Williams posted 11 points along with seven boards and six steals. Walley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season.

Walton's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Oxford Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Oxford Academy won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, slipping by Walton 29-28. Will Oxford Academy repeat their success, or does Walton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
