Volleyball Recap: Abilene Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Abilene entered their tilt with Buhler on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Crusaders. For the Cowboys, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Abilene had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-20, 25-16.

Their offense was headlined by Lola Rock and Makenna Stover, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Rylee Miller and her 31 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

The win got Abilene back to even at 17-17. As for Buhler, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-21-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Abilene and Buhler will both be playing Salina Central the next time they take the court. The Cowboys will host the Mustangs at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Crusaders will play them later in the day, at 2:15 p.m.
