Recap: East Ridge Knights vs. Hope Academy Trojan Tigers
This season hasn't been kind to the East Ridge Knights, who are still winless after their 20th matchup. Their rough 70-46 loss to Hope Academy on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, East Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while Hope Academy is ranked 292nd).
Despite the loss, East Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jordan Corman, who scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds. Corman hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Vazquez, who scored 15 points.
Leading Hope Academy to victory were Dwayne Foreman III and Willie Griggs. Foreman III scored 19 points along with nine assists and two steals, while Griggs dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Griggs has scored all season. Zion Baako was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
East Ridge dropped their record down to 0-20 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road. As for Hope Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Zephyrhills at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Zephyrhills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 610 points over their last ten matchups. As for Hope Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Four Corners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
