Soccer Game Preview: West Carteret vs. Dixon

The West Carteret Patriots will take on the Dixon Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

West Carteret had taken Swansboro down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Patriots took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. While losing is never fun, West Carteret can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Swansboro are ranked 95th).

Meanwhile, Dixon waltzed into their game on Friday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. Their defense stepped up to hand the Cougars a 1-0 shutout. Dixon's winning goal came courtesy of Aileen Lowman.

Dixon's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven matches. As for West Carteret, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10-3 record this season.
