Baseball Game Preview: Pettisville Blackbirds vs. Holgate Tigers

The Pettisville Blackbirds will head out on the road to face off against the Holgate Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pettisville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Holgate's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pettisville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against North Central on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to the Eagles.

Pettisville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Ripke, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Holgate's offense. They came up short against Fort Jennings on Saturday, falling 11-0. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Musketeers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Holgate's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Pettisville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Pettisville suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Holgate in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Blackbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
