Wisconsin high school football: Top 10 Week 2 matchups

Battle of defending small school champions Edgar and Stratford, top-five matchup between Arrowhead and Neenah among highlights.

Week 2 of the Wisconsin high school football season is here and we are putting the spotlight on the biggest games. 

Week 2 games to watch

No. 2 Bay Port (Green Bay) (1-0) at No. 10 Kimberly (0-1)
Thursday, 7 p.m.

In Week 1, Bay Port edged Middleton 39-36 behind the play of quarterback Matt Stevens (294 yards, 4 touchdowns) and running back Brady Moon (217 yards rushing, 1 touchdown, 52 yards receiving, 2 touchdowns). Kimberly is coming off a 42-21 loss against Hamilton. The game was tied at halftime before Hamilton outscored Kimberly 21-7 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

No. 17 Kaukauna (0-1) at No. 5 West De Pere (De Pere) (1-0)
Friday, 7 p.m. - NFHS Network

Quarterback Patrick Greisen was outstanding in West De Pere's 53-22 opening-week victory against Hortonville. The University of South Dakota recruit completed 25 of 29 passes for 405 yards and six touchdowns. Greisen connected with wide receiver Judeah Kniskern, a Division II Sioux Falls recruit, nine times for 201 yards and three touchdowns. The Phantoms' running game was working as Ryan Lutz tallied 172 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns. Kaukauna was topped by last year's Division 3 state champion Notre Dame 27-20 in week 1. Safety Luke Tetzlaff accounted for 13.5 tackles for the Galloping Ghosts and blocked a punt that he recovered in the endzone for a touchdown.



No. 19 Homestead (Mequon) (1-0) at No. 23 Kettle Moraine (Wales) (1-0)
Friday, 7 p.m. - NFHS Network

Both squads posted wins in Week 1, Homestead routing Germantown, 43-15, and Kettle Moraine earning a 27-16 victory over Wauwatosa West. Homestead did all of its damage on the ground, piling up 436 yards with Connor Pangallo leading the way with 228 yards and three touchdowns, while Brady Hunt compiled 137 yards and two touchdowns. Kettle Moraine was led by quarterback Caden Jurci, who went 14-for-20 passing with 238 yards and two touchdowns.

No. 6 Waunakee (1-0) at Madison Memorial (0-1)
Friday, 7 p.m. - NFHS Network

Waunakee cruised to a 55-6 win over La Crosse Logan last week. The Warriors rushed for 215 yards with the majority of that damage in the first half, where they led 41-6. On the other sideline, Madison Memorial fell to Whitefish Bay, 27-22, to open its season. Quarterback Blake Adams passed for 204 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Spartans.

No. 3 Neenah (1-0) at No. 1 Arrowhead (Hartland) (1-0)
Friday, 7 p.m.

The top five teams clash in the non-conference game. Neenah posted a 14-13 victory against Muskego, last year's Division 1 state runner-up, in the opening week of the season. Quarterback Ashton Vanbeek passed for 102 yards with one touchdown and carried the ball 22 times for 97 yards to lead the Rockets. Arrowhead was also impressive last week and is No. 1 in the rankings this week after cruising to a 53-22 win over No. 9 Marquette University. The Warhawks were led by the trio of quarterback Nolan Hanson (220 yards, 2 touchdowns), running back Jacob Siner (117 yards rushing, 1 touchdown; 25 yards receiving), and wide receiver Ryan Heiman (97 yards receiving, 2 touchdowns).

No. 15 Sun Prairie East (1-0) at No. 13 Mukwonago (0–1)
Friday, 7 p.m.

Sun Prairie East earned a big win last week against former Big East foe Verona, 28-21. Quarterback Braylon Peterson was nearly perfect, connecting on 11 of 12 for 203 yards and three touchdowns, and adding 48 yards on the ground. Other standouts for the Cardinals were running back Brady Kaufman (175 yards rushing, 1 touchdown) and wide receiver Van Vogler (120 yards, 1 touchdown). Mukwonago was defeated by No. 11 Appleton North, 21-6, last week. Linebacker Noah Dodds led the Indians' defense with 8.5 tackles, with two tackles for loss. Last season, Mukwonago edged Sun Prairie East 42-37.

Oak Creek (1-0) at No. 4 Muskego (0-1)
Friday, 7 p.m.

In Week 1, Oak Creek cruised to a 34-3 win over Waterford, and Muskego was topped by Neenah, 14-13. Oak Creek rushed for 283 yards in the win with Jay Baylis-Hooker (107 yards) and Cayson Seabrooks (104 yards, 2 touchdowns) leading the way. Quarterback JJ Chapman threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights. Dayton Lorino led Muskego's offense with 96 yards on 21 carries in its loss to Neenah, while linebacker CJ Reitz tallied nine tackles and also had a sack to lead the Warriors defensively.



No. 20 Slinger (1-0) at No. 14 Badger (Lake Geneva) (1-0)
Friday, 7 p.m.

Both squads earned blowout wins in Week 1, Slinger shutting out Menomonee Falls 37-0 and Badger picking up a 42-6 victory over Greendale. Running back Kobe Hendricks compiled 194 yards on 23 carries with three touchdowns to lead Slinger. Badger had seven different players get at least one carry in its win, highlighted by Matthew O'Grady Jr., who finished with eight carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

No. 18 Columbus (1-0) at No. 21 Aquinas (La Crosse) (1-0)
Friday, 7 p.m.

The medium school powers spit meetings last season. Aquinas defeated Columbus 29-28 in a Division 4 sectional championship after dropping a 20-16 contest in Week 2. They both posted impressive Week 1 wins, Aquinas shutting out Prairie du Chien (22-0) and Columbus cruising past Greenfield (51-14). Quarterback Ryan Johnson completed 14 of 16 for 179 yards for Aquinas with Logan Becker finishing with six catches and 78 yards for the Blugolds. Columbus compiled 330 yards rushing in Week 1 with Owen Cowell leading the group with 15 carries for 184 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Peyton Powers completed 11 of 14 for 165 yards and two touchdowns for the Cardinals.

Edgar (1-0) at Stratford (0-1)
Friday, 7 p.m.

Small school powers Edgar (back-to-back Division 7 state champions) and Stratford (three straight state titles, Division 6 in 2022 and 2023, Division 5 in 2024) meet in the non-conference contest. Last season, Stratford earned a 21-8 victory in Week 2 of its perfect 14-0 season. The Tigers entered the season with 26 consecutive wins before falling to Mosinee 26-19 in Week 1. Linebacker Jaegar Ormond led the Stratford defense with 6.5 tackles and two for loss. Edgar piled up 320 yards rushing in its opening-week win with Maverick Butt leading the way with 16 carries for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
