Basketball Recap: GEO Next Generation Takes a Loss

The GEO Next Generation Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 63-62 to the East Ascension Spartans. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

GEO Next Generation's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anderson Smith, who went 9-for-12 en route to 21 points and seven boards. That was a full 33.9% of the Tigers' points, marking the fourth time in a row Smith has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dwight Pinkney, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, GEO Next Generation fell to 3-1.

GEO Next Generation has already played their next matchup, a 46-41 victory against Plaquemine on the 25th. As for East Ascension, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bogalusa at 5:30 p.m. on December 17.
