Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kavin Walker and Angel Ortiz Lead Forest Hill to Victory

Forest Hill's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past the Inlet Grove Hurricanes with a 46-42 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 233rd).

Forest Hill was led to victory by Angel Ortiz and Kavin Walker. Ortiz went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points, while Walker posted seven points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. What's more, Ortiz also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2024.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Robert Brown, who scored 11 points and six steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Ja?Marcus Johnson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Forest Hill's record is now 11-14. As for Inlet Grove, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Forest Hill has already played their next match (against Olympic Heights), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Inlet Grove will challenge Cardinal Newman at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardinal Newman will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Inlet Grove surely won't give up without a fight.
