Baseball Recap: Avon Lake's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Avon Lake had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Midview on Wednesday. The Shoremen blew past the Middies 10-2. The Shoremen's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Josh Bobrowski was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bobrowski was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other pitching news, Josh Striffler tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Chase Cartwright was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Grant LeHoty, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Avon Lake's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Midview, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Lake will face off against Berea-Midpark at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Midview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Independence at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
