Baseball Recap: Owen Takes a Loss

Owen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 11-1 to the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-5 last Monday.

Owen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stephen Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Houston Mashburn also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Smoky Mountain, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owen will face off against Erwin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Smoky Mountain, they will square off against North Henderson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Smoky Mountain's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so North Henderson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
