Baseball Recap: Ithaca Beats Valley Lutheran for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Ithaca entered their tilt with Valley Lutheran on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Chargers. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Chargers back in April, they had to take a 8-3 loss.

Collin Thrush and Ryley White were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Thrush didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over eight innings pitched. Meanwhile, White didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Thrush went 1-for-5 with one run and one double, while White went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Hull, who went 3-for-6 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Ithaca pushed their record up to 4-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Valley Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ithaca will face off against Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Valley Lutheran, they will square off against Laker at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
