Softball Game Preview: Howe Bulldogs vs. S & S Consolidated Rams

The Howe Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the S & S Consolidated Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Howe will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Howe lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pottsboro, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Bulldogs never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Riley McCollum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Samantha Fuhr and Kamry Snapp did most of the damage at the plate: Fuhr scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Snapp scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Snapp a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Taylor Brunner, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, S & S Consolidated strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Gunter.

Howe's record now sits at 6-15. As for S & S Consolidated, they pushed their record up to 17-0 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

Howe suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to S & S Consolidated in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
