Two dominant backs in Hd Davis and Zane Fuentes are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wolfe City Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alvord Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wolfe City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Alvord likes a good challenge.
Wolfe City is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Tioga just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Wolves gained 58 more yards on the day, but it was the Bulldogs that made the best use of them.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brennon Russell, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Wolfe City is 3-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Noah Adams was another key passer, throwing for 185 yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Alvord came tearing into two weeks ago's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Tioga by a score of 27-20. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Alvord was the (much) better team in the second half.
Alvord didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jaxon Brown.
Wolfe City's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Alvord, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Wolfe City has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 277.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Alvord struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 284.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Wolfe City against Alvord when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-6 win. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
